Meet the Band: Who’s Who?

With his distinctive voice and uncapped creativity, Baby Boy is the lead vocalist. He also acts as the in-house graphic designer for the band. Jody Fontaine is a rapper and songwriter. He has a way with words, which comes in handy to create impactful lyrics that are hard to miss. Mick Anthony is also a talented rapper and singer. His unique vocals give the band an edge. Finally, Manny, who often goes by the name 777 Media, is the band's go-to visual media director.

AG Club acts out of the East Bay, Antioch Area. However, they don’t consider themselves as true Bay Area kids. The band members grew up in the East Bay, Antioch Area, which can be described as the trickle-down area compared to vibrant and alive music hubs like San Francisco and Oakland. As a result, the band was exposed to different kinds of music and inspiration outside of the region. It shaped their interest, giving them a completely different voice.

Musical Aspirations

AG Club is not limited to a certain type of music. They have absolutely no genre boundaries. The band took off and gained popularity after releasing the remix “Memphis.” With thousands of people fascinated by the refreshing take, it quickly became a hit; gaining over 1.7 million views and fetching the band well deserved recognition and appreciation for their work.

In an interview with FLAUNT, talking about the inspiration behind the band name, Fontaine reveals, “We started making music in Antioch. At the time, not many people were making the type of stuff that we’re interested in making. We wanted to open up a door for people who were interested in what’s considered weird stuff then. AG: Avant-Garde is a movement in art, like a reformation. It’s a change in how people see things. It’s weird, pretty much. That’s what we were. We wanted to create something people could feel a part of, make people feel “alright just because you’re from a certain place or you’re around this certain type of style, doesn’t mean you can’t do whatever you feel.”

Since band members hail from a minority group in the US, it is easy to rationalize why they are focused on creating music for everyone – music that makes people feel included. AG Club is already stirring some serious hype in the industry. All set to take their music careers to the next level, the band members are currently working on various exciting projects that we just can’t wait for!
