ANT CLEMONS: SLEEPING ON FLOORS

ANT CLEMONS: SLEEPING ON FLOORS

Ant Clemons is an American singer and songwriter who rose to fame through his collaboration with Kanye West. The 30-year-old singer has already been quite successful as a musician, but his journey has been one full of immense hard work and determination. Hailing from New Jersey and now living in Los Angeles, Clemons had literally been sleeping on floors before he got his big break.

Clemons had always grown up with music around him as his parents would often play music from Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and The Notorious B.I.G. This is why it's no surprise that he became a convincing Jackson impersonator at the young age of 5. In fact, he turned this impersonation into a career as he performed at birthday parties. Ever since he was a child, Ant Clemons sang songs with his sisters at family events. They soon were known as the “Clemons Trio.” It’s safe to say that music entirely ran in his blood.

When he was a young boy, Ant's parents divorced. This was when he discovered yet another talent within himself: songwriting. He spent the majority of his high school years writing songs and singing at church. During this time, he also joined the Showstoppers and The Heritage Players. After graduating from high school, Ant Clemons went to Burlington County College but dropped out after one semester.

This was when he began to focus on his music career solely. He worked at Red Lobster during this time and would use his salary to pay for his trips to Los Angeles, where he would meet music producers. Eventually, he made a move. This was when he slept on his friend's floors until he could earn enough for himself. Clemons would then buy a place of his own and write songs to afford each month's rent.

Ant Clemons got his big break when he met Ryan Toby, who gave him the opportunity to work on Luke James' new single, "Drip." Since then, he met with more producers and written a plethora of songs with them. During this time, he wrote the hook for Jeremih's demo song, "All Mine." Kanye invited Jeremih to Wyoming, where Jeremih played the demo. Kanye eventually used "All Mine" in his album and invited Ant to Wyoming to worth with him. After working with Kanye, Clemons gained immense fame.

After this, Ant Clemons worked on multiple tracks for Chance the Rapper on his album "Jesus is King." Soon after, Clemons began dropping his own music as well. He released his debut EP "Happy 2B Here" in 2020, which features Ty Dolla Sign, Timbaland, and Pharell Williams. This EP eventually received a Grammy award nomination for being the best R&B album.

Over the years, Clemons has built his extensive resume as a talented songwriter, rapper, and singer. During his career, he has worked with the likes of Camilla Cabello, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, the Sunday Service Choir, and more. It is clear that the days of sleeping on floors are long gone for this immensely talented musician.
