WELCOME TO BANDYLAND

Bandy is an artist from Inkster, Michigan, who serves in the United States Navy. Despite his background, Bandy’s art is far from ships and military drills. As a self-taught artist, he creates scenarios with animated characters that he created himself. Bandy’s overall art style is reminiscent of animated-Japanese art, with a dash of old hand-drawn comic book strips. Bandy has created two characters, Rarie Panther and Saki Love Blossom, who is featured throughout his work, and Bandy uses the characters to convey the theme of his work.

Bandy’s work is an off-shoot of the beloved nerd culture since his influences are old comic book-style characters. However, Bandy utilizes his characters for still portraits, conveying a message he feels strongly about rather than creating comic strips. This combination of old-school artistic composition on contemporary cartoonish characters is exciting and sets Bandy’s work apart.

Bandy's style is informed by his background in graphic design and his love of street art. He has a keen sense of composition and a deep understanding of color theory, allowing him to create visually striking and emotionally resonant works. His art reflects his unique perspective and willingness to push the boundaries of traditional artistic techniques.

The two main characters in Bandy’s work have been constructed carefully and show his artistic influences. Rarie Panther, in Bandy’s words, is the brand mascot, and he aims to make it one of the most recognizable characters in pop culture. Saki Love Blossom is a direct homage to Bandy’s love for Japanese art and cherry blossoms. Sakie Love Blossom represents life and death embracing each other as the character is made up of a skull signifying death, and cherry blossoms, which signify a new start.

Bandy also uses his seemingly childish cartoon characters to relay some poignant messages about social justice to his viewers, showing his work's maturity. Many pieces featuring Rarie Panther and Sakie incorporate powerful phrases, such as ‘end racism’ and ‘stop gun violence,’ to show that Bandy’s work does not take place in a vacuum but is very much rooted in the ground realities of the American political landscape.

Bandy’s work has garnered a sizeable fanbase and has an audience big enough to launch his NFT line. In October 2021, Bandy’s line of NFTs titled Rare Panthers #1 hit the blockchain. The Rare Panthers Genesis collection included 100 hand-drawn one-of-a-kind NFTS that ultimately sold out, showing the popularity of Bandy’s work.

Overall, Rare Bandy is a talented artist whose works reflect his unique and creative vision. His use of color, hand drawing, and abstract elements creates a sense of energy and vibrancy that captures the viewer's attention. His art reflects his passion for contemporary art and his willingness to explore new artistic techniques and mediums. He is a rising star in the art world, and his bold and captivating works are sure to continue gaining recognition and admiration from art lovers worldwide.
