ASIAN GLOW

ASIAN GLOW

Gyungwon Shin's emo solo project Asian Glow is based in Seoul, South Korea. He also goes by the aliases noman's'lave, CㅔSHcTxㄴ, and Moth Pylon and is a member of the band FOG. Asian Glow has a peculiar relaxing aspect centered on an emo and lo-fi bedroom tone. Whatever you think of this new generation of emo bedroom musicians, Asian Glow is not one to slack off. From what we think, he's the most thrilling of the latest crop of emo artists from South Korea, and this isn't simply coding for being the "best": the rapid growth of his sound over the last 15 months has been a delight to follow.

"Full Circle," his breakthrough album, was simply an hour of Midwest-inflected devotion. Even though the songs contain a lot of distortion in the guitars and a quick speed, the album primarily relies on melody. We can't pick our favorite song on the album because every "Full Circle" song is excellent. The selected artist's name - Asian Glow - is, in our opinion, the more exciting part. This is because "Full Circle" emits an audible glow.

While Asian Glow may be absorbing the aspects from later forms, there are many visible parts from prior generations of South Korean emo music. However, all the songs on "Full Circle" are simpler to grasp, especially if you've been listening to this genre for a long time.

"5:21:2000" has to be one of our favorite songs on this album, owing to the drum pattern that plays throughout the tune and competes with the vocal cadence. Incredibly, each song on the album has its composition, such as "Just thinking," and none sounds like a demo. The varying track durations help to differentiate one song from the next, but once you start listening to "Fill Circle," Asian Glow will have all your undivided attention for the next hour.

Asian Glow's voice feels like a swarm of anxiety. His vocals feel like they're burdened with jadedness, unlike other emo artists. On most of his tracks from "Full Circle," you can hear the force of the moment Asian Glow catches for a brief time in his frantic final note. You feel the grandeur as the album finally settles into the peak it has spent the better half an hour building up to. You feel his voice's harmony, grace, and immediate resignation, with everything coming together as he lets go of his vocals the moment they reach climax. Every song on "Full Circle" threatens to tear his vocal cords apart, thanks to all the emotion he has put into them.

We don't know about many musicians specializing in the emo genre, but Asian Glow is a fan and knows the ins and outs pretty well. All his musical work caters to what "being emo" is about. However, he has made his rendition. So, if you like listening to emo music, Asian Glow is one artist you should add to your playlist.
